Local winery will be at our next stop to learn and test Cyprus Wine (Oινος).
En route will visit the picturesque village of Lefkara, Famous for its silverware and intricate handmade lace, known as “Lefkaritika”. A short walked in the narrow roads of stoned houses gives the village a different look than the usual. Our next step will be visiting one of the biggest Donkey (Ονος) farm in Cyprus and will have the option to see the country side of the island. Take an optional ride with a donkey and enjoy the smell of the nature. Have a walk at the garden with the herbs and see the wax museum with the traditions of Cyprus, visit the farm shop that you can find cosmetics, soaps, chocolates and liquer with donkey milk. Time for lunch with traditional Cypriot dishes in a local Tavern. Return back to the selected hotel for your accommodation.
Day 3: Gourmet & Wine Voyage & Pitstilia Mountain Villages
A delightful day exploring the history, villages and scents of the green heart of Cyprus, the Pitsilia Mountain Villages. The tour starts with a visit to the ‘House of Roses’ in Agros village, where we see the workshop before sampling some of the wide variety of products based on roses. Nearby we visit Sweets Factory where almost every vegetable and fruit is turned into delicious confections. So, if you have a sweet tooth you will be delighted! And for meat eaters we also have good news! Sausages of Agros village stand the taste and smell, which they owe to the particular method of preparation, that is mainly smoked and wine and prepared according to the traditional Cypriot recipe. Quite tasty meats are ham, lountza and bacon. All these we will find in local meat delicatessen workshop. Through Pelendri village and winery visit we continue our journey to Picturesque village of Kyperounta which is about an altitude of approximately 1300 metres in the Troodos Mountains with amazing climate, cool in the summer and not very cold in winter, and was established in the Byzantine time and has managed to preserve its traditional character. Local winery with be at our next visit, well known for its award winning wines. Then our next stop will be Kakopetria Village, Kakopetria is a beautiful, traditional village located 55 kilometers south west of the capital, Nicosia, on the foothills of the Troodos Mountain. It stands at an altitude of 667 meters and it is the highest village in the Solea Valley.You will visit the old Kakopetria area, with the stone paved roads and the well-maintained traditional Cyprus houses. Time for lunch with traditional Cypriot dishes in a local Tavern. Return back to the selected hotel for your accommodation.
Day 4 : Winery Art & Gastronomy Experience ‘Krasochoria’ Villages
‘Following in the footsteps of Dionysus’ for an unforgettable adventure we will explore the island’s longstanding tradition of winemaking needs no further proof than its claim to the world’s oldest named wine still in production – that of Commandaria, proclaimed by Richard the Lionheart as the “wine of the kings and the king of the wines.”
Whether you’re a connoisseur, or a simple lover of the drink that locals once worshipped as the ‘nectar of the Gods’, you will delight in discovering a host of charming wineries, wine testing, and visiting wine growing regions’ known as ‘Krasochoria’, which is comprised of the two Greek words for ‘wine’ and ‘villages’ – a name that tells the story of its rich winemaking history in itself. At each winery you will get to tour the facility, learn about the grapes and wine making process and get to taste the end result. There are over 20 wines to sample including the famous Commandaria wine. Between visits you’ll be travelling through the green heart of Cyprus ‘Troodos Mountains’ with their stunning landscapes, quaint villages and delightful fresh clean air. Optional full meze lunch where you can try some of the most popular traditional dishes in Cypriot cuisine. A journey of knowledge, flavours and enjoyment.
Our first stop will be at Lania village, walk around the narrow roads and enjoy village architecture of an ancient stone houses and cottages, visit the old wine press, then we will continue tour to Platres village and have chocolate workshop and then will proceed to the Troodos quare ( close to the peak ) Mount Olympus – the highest point in Cyprus with a peak of 1951 meters and take in the panoramic views in Troodos Square. Continuing our way we visit a local winery. We will move on to one of the most beautiful villages in Cyprus: the village of Omodhos, which is famous for its true Cypriot architecture, wineries and local wine museum called ‘Linos’, we will visit one the winery and will enjoy a wine tasting and one of the ancient offerings to the Gods – wine. In Omodos we visit the Holy Cross monastery, blessed by Saint Helena. Important relics are housed in the monastery’s museum. Then time to explore the narrow cobbled streets of Omodhos with its traditional stone-built houses and local artisan work – pipilla lace, silver jewellery, pottery and leather, fresh baked village bread, local wine, and a lot more. Return back to the selected hotel for your accommodation.
Day 5: Paphos – Aphrodite – Dionysos – Winery – Mythology
Today will discover Paphos for a cultural and wine tour, en route the Petra tou Romiou, (the legendary of Aphrodite – goddess of love) said to be the Aphrodite’s birthplace. We will continue to Geroskypou and visit the interesting Byzantine architecture and frescos of Ayia Paraskevi church, Geroskypou is also is famous for its ‘Loukoumi’ traditional Cypriot confenctionary. Then will continue to a Winery in the heart of the Paphos Vineyards, between the villages and will have a wine taste. On our journey will include visit at one of the UNESCO heritage the Paphos Mosaics including the Dionysos house the god of the grape-harvest, winemaking and wine, in ancient Greek religion and mythology. The picturesque harbor of Paphos and medieval castle area will be our next visit and will have free time on leisure to stroll round. Return back to the selected hotel for your accommodation.
Day 6: Cyprus Night & Folkloric show event
Enjoy your day time with free on leisure activities , shopping or beach or hotel amenities and evening star for Cyprus Night included entertainment in true Cypriot style, including an amazing floor show of Greek and Cypriot folk dancing and music, which in the end you will surely be tempted to join in. You will be served a typical Cypriot Meze, which consists of innumerable little delicacies which form a very satisfying and complete meal.
